When I look at my girl now, tears come to my eyes. She is a shadow of her former self. She's been fighting an ongoing battle to walk for a long time but when I look in her big eyes, I still see her Arabian spirit & strength with the desire to continue her fight to live on. We are both in this long struggle together & when she reaches over to me to give me a big smooch on the cheek with her big bright eyes looking into mine, I know it's all worth it & I've made the right decision to keep her alive. She has taught me more about life & strength than I ever could have imagined & if it weren't for Sammy I wouldn't have met so many wonderful people who want to help her "just because". I've heard of Soul Mates & I know I've found my "Soul Horse" in Sammy. Sammy is a beautiful 22 year old Arabian Mare who has been dealing with recurring laminitic / founder episodes & diagnosed with IR. We are working closely with For Love of the Horse to address the most critical of her health problems first. She should start on these products by the end of the week 9/17/10. First process to deal with will be the contracted tendons and disease deep within the hoof capsule. Sammy's response to her first trim is very encouraging. Hoof markups were provided to the owner and a friend who have very little trimming experience. The trim combined with the owners' aggressive massage program this beautiful mare is beginning to move more frequently and is also weighting her left heel for the first time in months. The owner is an amazing woman with a 'can do' attitude. She is determined to take this on with every ounce of strength she has.
